Bumi plc shareholders set to challenge company's license to operate

Thursday, 14 June 2012.  Controversial mining giant Bumi plc holds its first Annual General Meeting in London amid growing concerns about corruption associated with mining companies listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Campaigners are calling for the UK government to tighten up the rules for companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. A new report, launched in February 2012, includes a case study by DTE on the newly created Bumi plc.

London Mining Network, in consultation with JATAM (the Indonesian mining advocacy network) has developed the following Draft Declaration on Coal Mining. Many organisations have rightly drawn attention to coal’s contribution to destructive climate change.

For many years, DTE has been working with JATAM, the Indonesian Mining Advocacy Network on a variety of mining campaigns in Indonesia.

Following the launch of JATAM's 'Deadly Coal' campaign earlier this year,  DTE and JATAM decided to bring the campaign directly to the UK and Europe.
